This type of bows was especially made for hunting bison on horseback. It is usually shorter compared to a war bow. This one is also covered with rattlesnake skins for more strength, protection against the elements, and also as decoration. The bow string is made of raw hide, it features also 3 hunting arrows with old trade points.

Antique Buffalo Bow
Authentic buffalo bow from the Assiniboine Tipis Collection (circa 1870). This type of short bow approx 1,10m long, was primerly used by Plains Indians such as the Comanche, Kiowa, Pawnee, Osage, Apache, Navajo, and Hopi to hunt on horseback. This particular double-curved osage bow has an estimated power of approx. 48 pounds. The original string has long been lost, and was later replaced. The bow still shows some red paintings.
