Native American Flutes
Creator of Hawksounds,
Deniis Hawk's interest in Native American History and music comes
naturally - he's a Cherokee descendant, and his wife is Mohican.
Over the years Dennis experimented with different woods in making his flutes and prefers Cedar.
"Making a flute is ceremony for me...," Dennis reports, "and ceremony is never rushed
or put on a clock. Rather than shaping a flute, the flute is shaping me.
I smudge the flute in a sacred way before I begin tuning the flute and creating
the voice."
