Pure Wildflower Honey The apiary is located in the vast prairies bordering Lake Manitoba. This land is mainly used for forage and pasture. Waterfowl and wildlife are abundant; deer, foxes, coyotes, bears, wolves, moose and even some elk roam the area. Although I haven't apply to obtain an organic label for my honey yet, I feel that it is as natural as mother nature can make it; there are no herbicide or pesticide treatment whiting miles around my apiary so that the good golden honey produced by my bees does not contain any chemical residue. As for my garden, fruit trees and berry bushes, my goal has always been to produce the cleanest, most natural and healthiest food for my family. That's why I do not give my bees antibiotics, formic acid and other medication. My hives are regularly inspected by the government. In 2007 again, they were certified free of any disease and parasites. |
Honey is very Good for You - Use it in your Kitchen
| BUFFALO
PRAIRIE HONEY 100% Pure Wildflower Honey - Unpasteurized Our honey is just the way the Bees made it. It is only strained to remove any bits of comb wax. We do not heat our honey like commercial honey packers do. That's why their honey stays liquid on the shelf for a long time but heating honey has its downside, heat destroys most of its good stuff such as antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins and pollen. Heated honey also looses most of its natural aroma and flavor. |

| The
land of the great Buffalo [Click for
video] A long time ago, Buffalo herds used to roam our country in great numbers. Today most bison are seen in the neighboring ranches. From times to times, some run though the fences and escape. One morning, we found this small herd feeding on the wild grasses near our bee hives, although they never disturb them. Below are a some of the flowers found on our prairies.

F. A. Q About Honey What is Honey?Bees make honey from the nectar they sip from the hearts of blossomed flowers. A long and tedious process is required to transform the nectar into the thick, golden substance we call honey. What are the main components of Honey? Glucose and fructose are the major sugar found in honey. They are simple sugar that can be absorbed by our body. Honey also contains proteins, carbohydrates, hormones, organic acids, and antimicrobial compounds. Honey is a good carbohydrate. It is a rich storehouse of essential vitamins, minerals and trace elements for our human body. What are the medical properties of Honey? Honey consisting of a greater proportion of glucose to fructose will crystallize faster. Different flower nectars have different proportions of these sugars. Is lighter color honey better than darker color Honey? The color of honey form a continuous range from clear through amber to dark amber. Man
was a hunter of wild honey and a keeper of bees in prehistoric times.
A rock painting on the wall of a cave near Valencia, Spain shows a Stone
Age man hanging
by grass ropes and surrounded by angry bees as he takes a honeycomb
out of a hole in a cliff and puts it in a basket. Today, the Akie people of Northern
Tanzania are renowned for their skill at gathering wild honey.
It is generally
the men who are responsible for gathering honey from the hives of wild
bees.
They devote
a huge amount
of time to gathering honey; it offers huge calorific reward for relatively
little work. On hunting trips, the men will often get sidetracked by
the promise of honey. Depending on the time of year, their forays to
collect honey can take anything from a few hours to more than a month. The lore of the honeybee and the uses of its stored honey have been favorite topics since the beginnings of written mythology and history. Certainly, honey has been the all-time favorite sweet of mankind. |
