“Making tipis is a love story and a lifestyle. My heart rejoices at the sight of a lodge or a tipi camp. I also eat, sleep and spend a lot of time in my lodge with my family, friends and visitors.” Gerry ManyBears

The most popular tipi that we sell is inspired by the traditional Sioux design. It is commonly seen on the Great Plains during Powwows and Rendezvous. It is also the most widely used by Metis in western Canada.
We make our tipis as strong as possible. All stress areas are reinforced, cover main seams are double-sewn, raw edges are hemmed to keep from fraying. Door opening edges are selvedge for more resistance. Bottom edges are also hemmed and have stake loops. Lacing pin holes are reinforced and stitched by hand. Door openings are oval shaped (see picture).

Tipi, Teepee or Tepee...
You can spell it the way you like but... Tipi is the traditional Sioux word, and Teepee is its English assimilation.

A tipi package includes a door cover, storage bag, ropes, smudge stick, ribbons for decorating the poles, a CD including our step-by-step notice for a perfect pitching, and our 3-year warranty. Tipis covers can be made of 4 different fabrics. Prices are in Canadian dollars for Sioux style tipis. There is a small surcharge for a Cheyenne style tipi. Blackfoot and Crow tipis can also be made on special request.

12oz Natural
It's a very economical yet strong fabric. This 12oz untreated canvas is breathable and presents good insulating qualities when compared to more lighter fabrics. It will also shrinks a bit after been exposed to a few rain showers but this shrinkage will improve its natural water repellency qualities.

10oz TR
This canvas is water repellent and mildew-rot resistant. It is a very good choice for your first tipi and for backyard camping.

10.10oz FR
Our 10.10oz Marine Duck canvas is a very strong fabric, it's water repellent, mildew-rot resistant and also FR (Fire Retardant). Because of its lightweight, this canvas is the perfect choice for gatherings and powwows, mountain men rendezvous and summer camps.

15oz FR
It is our heaviest canvas, it is also water repellent, mildew-rot resistant and FR with better insulating qualities. It is a popular choice for year around camping, commercial and winter camps. Because of the weight, we do not recommend heavy fabric for very large tipis.

Lodge poles
Our tipi poles are very long and must be shipped by truck. It is often cheaper to cut your own poles or have them made for you by a local logger instead of paying for expensive shipping costs. Suitable trees can be found in abundance in all the Canadian Provinces. Our CD explains everything you need to know about poles; how many you'll need, where to find the best suitable trees, and all about the finishing process. For our local customers, we have a stock of poles at our shop in Lundar, they come in 2 grades; rough and finished. Please call us for availabilities and prices.
Quebec: We have also a pole supplier in eastern Canada, please contact us for more details.

Liner or Dew Cloth
Although a tipi can be used without it, a liner provides better insulation and a much greater comfort by controlling draft, smoke and insects in the lodge. Our regular liners are 6' tall with a FR Polyethylene sod cover.

There is certainly nothing in the entire world that compares to Native Dancers. I admire these beautiful men, women and children with all my heart. In the name of my family, I want to honor these artists and friends of the Powwow trail with a few pictures and say "Thank you so much".
